Ford Davis Vest, 83 of Elma, died October 25, 2012, at St. Peter Hospital. Ford was born February 12, 1929, in Truman, Arkansas to J.O. and Lucy Vest. Ford came to Washington in 1951. He married Martha Isabel Miller on November 22, 1952.
Ford was a longtime Dairy Farmer before retiring in 1993. Ford was a man of many hobbies which included bowling in a league for many years, a Member of the Grange for over 50 years, he loved cutting firewood and growing his flower and veggie garden. Most of all, Ford was known for going to the car races and socializing with everyone around.
Ford is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Martha, “The love of his life”. He is also survived by three sons, Dan and Carol Vest of Elma, Troy and Tina Vest of Satsop, Bill and Mindie Vest of Elma; seven grandchildren, Kimberly, David, Steven, Lisa, Crystal, Michael and Justin; and four great-grandchildren, Hana, Megan, Landi and Killie with which he loved with all his heart. Ford is also survived by his sister, Jesse Barnhill of Arkansas.
A celebration of life and potluck will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2012, at the Brady Grange. Please join the family and bring your favorite dish. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Elma Fire Department.
