Gary Lee Lidtka

Longtime Aberdeen resident Gary Lee Lidtka passed away at home on Monday, August 19, 2013. He was 68. Gary was born in Eldora, Iowa, on December 12, 1944, to Afton and Viola (Cooksey) Lidtka. His family moved to the Grays Harbor area in 1947.

On February 13, 1965, Gary married Sandra Kay Townsend in Aberdeen. She survives him at the family home.

Gary had worked as a logger from 1967 until he retired in 1992 for Keith Green, FG Peterson and Anderson Middleton.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping with family, karaoke and especially loved being with his family.

In addition to his loving wife, Sandra; he is also survived by his daughter, Charmaigne “Charm” (Curtis) Messer; brother, Arnold Lidtka; sister, Viola May Wilson; mother-in-law, Beatrice Townsend; sister-in-law, Larlie (Clyde) Mudgett; brother-in-laws, Roy (Shayne) Townsend; Marvin (Linda) Townsend and Arnold (Delight) Townsend; grandchildren, Curtis (Crystal) Messer; James (CJ) Messer and Gary Messer; numerous nieces and nephews and also his godchildren, Clyde Mudgett, Delight Donais, Beatrice Gerber and Saundra Leslie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandson, Michael Messer.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 26, 2013, and from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, in the chapel at Harrison Family Mortuary located at 311 W. Market St. in Aberdeen followed by a graveside service at 3:30 at Fern Hill Cemetery. A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at Rainer Lanes located at 415 W. Heron St. following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the Muscular Dystrophy Assoc. or to the American Cancer Society.
