December 7, 1935 - October 2, 2012
Gary Riddle passed away peacefully on October 2, 2012, in his Wenatchee apartment after a year-long battle with various conditions.
Gary is survived by his mother, Lorena; brother, Allan; son, Louis ‘Fritz’ (and wife Jen); grandchildren Callea and Madison.
Gary was born in Chelan to William and Lorena Riddle while they were working in the apple orchards. Gary moved away to pursue his education and received a Ph.D in Organic Chemistry at the University of Washington and University of Oregon. He married first wife, Margret Pauley, in 1961. After graduating from college, Gary started his new career in Texas where their only child, Fritz, was born in 1966.
Gary and the young family moved back to Hoquiam, Wash., in 1970. He and Margret divorced in 1972 and Gary continued living in Grays Harbor for the next 36 years. He started his illustrious vehicle sales career selling Kawasaki motorcycles in Hoquiam and eventually sold cars for his 30-plus years in sales, most recently at Five Star Ford. Gary met his second wife, Bonnie Anderson, and her children during this time; they married in 1977. His third marriage was to Terrie Bennett in 1990. As Gary would say, he wasn’t very good at the marriage business, but the women in his life were very good to him, and he knew that.
In 2008, Gary retired back to Chelan to enjoy the warm summer breezes in his favorite shady spot at his childhood home. Dad, you will never be forgotten and your legacy will live on for generations. I pray that your soul is still enjoying those warm summer breezes with that view.
No service is planned at this time. In lieu of flowers please just remember his wit, intelligence and his positives.
