George Warren Whiting, 86, went home with the Lord on October 1, 2013, at his home in Montesano. He was born to John and Anna Miller Whiting on Decenber 19, 1926 at their home on the Cloquallum Road, three miles past the Mason County Line in Elma, where he lived with his five siblings, all of whom preceded him in death.
George served in the U.S. Navy and on the Castco in the Philippines during World War II as an AMM2. He was also a long haul truck driver for many different businesses. He worked at the Simpson Door Plant, Camp Govey and the sorting yard in Shelton for a time.
On July 19, 1947, he married Betty Ruth Smith in Houston Texas. They were happily married until her passing on June 1, 1996, in Twin Falls, Idaho.
George is survived by all seven of his children, Julie (John) Robbins, Patricia (Dan) Williams, Anita (Karl) Job, Robert (Debbie) Whiting, Thomas Whiting and Jeffery (Justina) Whiting. Incredibly they were all born on a different day of the week! He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchildren on the way; nieces, nephews and cousins; his dog, Jackpot; and special friends, MaryAnn Williams and Linda Alawaine.
A party in honor of George will be held at Light and Life Community Church at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2013. The church is located at 2740 Simpson Ave., in Hoquiam, you can call 360-581-2416 for directions. All family, friends and co-workers are invited to attend and share their stories.
