Geraldine “Gerry” Rose Rowe, 90 years of age and a lifetime Hoquiam, Washington area resident, died on Thursday, August 2, 2012, in a Seattle, Washington hospital. She was born on July 15, 1922, in Hoquiam to Charles Emmett and Martha Tekkla (Mante) Lynch.

Gerry was raised in Hoquiam and attended the Our Lady of Good Help Catholic Church and Saint Mary’s Catholic School for eight years. She graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1940.

Gerry worked at the Rayonier Paper Mill in Hoquiam for several years. She was married to Leslie Earl Rowe at the Catholic Church in Hoquiam on May 23, 1947.

The couple moved to the Polson Logging Camp where Leslie worked. She had been a 4-H leader at Humptulips and well as a Little League Mom. The family moved into Hoquiam in 1967 where she had since resided. Geraldine had been a member of the Y Circle and the Homemaker’s Club. For many years she had served on the election board in Hoquiam. For a few years she worked in the stock room at J.C. Penny in Aberdeen. The family enjoyed time spent at their place on Hood’s Canal where they would shrimp and crab fish. She enjoyed her Monday Morning Coffee Club, playing bingo at the Senior Center and working word puzzles.

Geraldine is survived by her daughter, Kathe Rowe of Hoquiam; her son, Jim Rowe of Lynnwood; six grandchildren, Jamie Quigg, Jeff Spivey, Jordan Spivey, Joel Spivey, Jim Rowe and Jenny Rowe; three great-grandchildren, Justin Rowe, Kaiden Rowe and Autumn Rowe and other relatives.

The family requests donations be sent to the Senior Companion Program, PO Box 667, Hoquiam 98550 or to the Grays Harbor Community Hospital Foundation, 1006 North H Street, Aberdeen 98520.

A private service of inurnment will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary, 422 – 5th Street in Hoquiam.
