He moved his family to the Bellingham area, where he opened Lorentzen Financial Services in the Fairhaven area, and sold Life Insurance and Annuities for some 45 years, until his retirement. Hans had a passion for singing and sang with the Mount Baker Toppers Barbershop Chorus since the mid 1960’s, and traveled to Finland, New Zealand, and other places for competitions.
Hans other passion was fishing, and spent many winters after retirement, with his sister Joyce, at their home in La Paz Mexico, and loved fishing the Sea of Cortez.
He is survived by his loving sister, Joyce Hammond of Seattle; 3 sons, Brian (Barbara) Lorentzen of Aberdeen, Kevin Lorentzen of Redmond, Wash. and Steve Lorentzen of Raymond, Wash.; mother of his children, Myrna Roper of Raymond, Wash.; two brothers, Chester Jonason of Cosmopolis and Arthur Jonassen of Yakima; two grandsons, Scott Lorentzen of Bellingham and Kevin Jaeger of Aberdeen, now US Army; two great-grandchildren of Bellingham; and many nieces, nephews, and family members in Norway. A celebration of his life will be announced later for the Bellingham area.
