December 19, 1932 - September 23, 2012

Herman Leroy Pruett of the Wishkah Valley, journeyed to his Heavenly home on September 23, 2012. Herman was born December 19, 1932, in Hattie, Missouri, to Luther Pruett and Dora Martin. The Pruett’s migrated to Aberdeen when he was four years old. He attended Weatherwax High School.

In 1951, Herman married Patricia Mannila at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Aberdeen. He worked for Sears in shipping and receiving for twenty plus years. Later, he joined the Local Laborers Union 374 as a construction laborer. He worked on roads, bridges as well as the Satsop Nuclear Plant.

Dad taught his sons survival skills and how to hunt. He enjoyed family camping trips up the Wynoochee. He was a member of the 40 & 8 and Aberdeen Eagles Club where he enjoyed playing pull-tabs and shooting pool. His children knew he looked forward to scratch tickets on his birthday where he would try his luck. He would always say, “If we hit the big one…” He also enjoyed walking his dog, Mattie, while listening to the birds chirp and feeling the breeze of the country air.

He was well known for building family homes with the help of his four sons up the Wishkah Valley. He was also known for his excellence with record keeping and his generosity. Education was always important to him, as he would reward his children and grandchildren for good grades while helping with school supplies.

Herman is survived by his wife, Patti, of Aberdeen Wash.; four sons, Randy (Linda), David (Valerie), Reuben (Connie), and Arnie (Sandy) and three daughters, Debbie (Brian) Dimler, Regina (Arthur) Jones and Ranette (Brian) Johnson all of Aberdeen; foster daughter, Sherrie (Terry) Hamilton of Arizona; twenty-five grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and if you’re reading this, you might be one of our grandchildren.
