James (Jim) Gordon Halbert, age 62, lost his battle with cancer on August 10, 2013, at his home in Shelton, surrounded by his family.
Jim was born in Shelton on April 13, 1951, grew up in Aberdeen, and has lived the past 28 years in Shelton. He graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1969. He attended Western Washington University in Bellingham, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree. He retired from his long career as a retail Meat Cutter in 2003. In 1976, he married Susan K. Connor. They shared 37 years of marriage and raised three children.
Jim grew up loving the outdoors and enjoyed many years of travel to Hawaii. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was kept very busy by his grandchildren.
Jim is preceded in death by his mother, Gertrude (Bailey) Halbert, and his father, Vernnon Halbert. He is survived by his wife, Susan; his three children, Michael Scott, Meghan Muenchow and James Halbert; seven grandchildren; and two sisters, Susan Vordahl, and Carrie Alviar.
A graveside service will be held at Satsop Cemetery 35 East Satsop Road at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2013. A gathering to celebrate his life will immediately follow at the Olympic View (Brady) Grange 466 Old Monte Brady Rd.
