John was a lifelong resident of Aberdeen, Washington. He graduated from Weatherwax High School and then enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps (USAAC) and served during World War II. After his service he returned to the Harbor to work in the family logging business alongside his father and eldest brother in a variety of logging jobs eventually retiring from Weyerhaeuser.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Frances Malinowski; his brothers, Edward and Frank Malinowski; sister, Mary Jean Michel; and nephew, Peter. He is survived by his sisters, Betty Jane Miller and Anne Reynvaan Graves; nephews and nieces, Rob and Sandi, Paul and John, Eileen and Cathy, Mary Vance, Fran, Ken and Karl, and Mike, Lisa, Jeff, Juli, Scott and all of their families.
John was a great Uncle to many grandnephews and grandnieces, a caring brother to his siblings and friend to many in our community. He leaves behind numerous good friends, including Bruce O’Brien, Cookie Newman, Ron Gorman all who helped care for John with his nephew, Scott Reynvaan, enabling him to stay in his home during his illness. The family wishes to thank the local medical community and especially Grays Harbor Community Hospital for exceptional care during his days.
Per John’s request there will be no service. Please consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers or memorials. There will be a celebration of life at Duffy’s Restaurant in Aberdeen at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2013, family and friends are encouraged to attend.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen.
