With his mother’s arms wrapped around him, John Michael Weiland went to be with his Lord and Savior on Mother’s Day, May 13, 2012, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital. John was born March 21, 1961, at St. Joseph Hospital in Aberdeen, Washington, to Ray and Leona (Davies) Weiland.
John was a lifelong Aberdeen resident and attended J.M. Weatherwax High School; he earned his G.E.D. following his Junior year. He loved music and played drums in the Weatherwax marching band and also professionally.
Prior to his illness, he enjoyed camping, gardening, fishing, hiking, bicycling, baking and canning pickles. He also hunted small animals, skinned them and hung them on the wall. John loved flowers and plants and earned a Master Gardener Certificate, he was self-employed as a gardener. John was a very sensitive and caring person and helped his Dad with yard work and chores when he was able. John enjoyed visiting his parents and loved cooking for them as he was an excellent cook.
In addition to his loving mother and father, Leona and Ray Weiland of Elma; he is also survived by his brother, Bob Weiland of Tucson, Ariz.
Our hearts are very heavy; we will miss John greatly but look forward to meeting him and Mindy in Heaven one day.
