Johnny Inez Montoure


Johnny Inez Montoure, 79, and a longtime Hoquiam resident, died on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Washington. She was born on October 21, 1933, in Richland, Arkansas, to George and Biddie (Freeman) Garrison.

She came to Hoquiam when she was a child and attended school in Hoquiam. She attended the Methodist Church in Hoquiam as a child.

Johnny was married to Vernon Montoure on June 24, 1949, in Elma, Washington. They made their home in Hoquiam where she had since resided. Vernon died on November 24, 1998.

She worked as a waitress for over 30 years at the New China Café, the Golden Dragon and the Canton Café.

Johnny enjoyed her trips to Reno, Las Vegas and California, where she visited area casinos, went shopping and garage sales. She liked to crochet, work in her flower garden, visit with her family and friends, watch the Seattle Mariners, especially when Edgar Martinez and Lou Pinella were involved in the games. Her extended family liked to go camping and spend time at the summer cabin at the Cowlitz River area.

Johnny is survived by two sons, Ron Montoure (Vicki) of Hoquiam and Greg Montoure (Pam) of Aberdeen; three daughters, Carol Bowman (John) of Bremerton, Joni Montoure (Jose Ochoa) of Aberdeen and Jody Reed (Vince) of Montesano; one brother, Claude Garrison of San Diego, California; one sister, JoAnn Carpenter of Bremerton; 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Russell Garrison and Ralph Garrison.

The family requests donations be sent to the National Kidney Foundation, Finance Department, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, New York 10016.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Sunday, November 18, 2012, and from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm on Monday, November 19, 2012, at the Coleman Mortuary, 422 - 5th Street in Hoquiam, Washington.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at the Coleman Mortuary Chapel in Hoquiam.

A concluding service with interment will follow at the IOOF Cemetery in Elma, Washington.
