Karen G. Kahler, 72, of Longview, died on May 1, 2013, under hospice care at an adult care facility.
She was born July 15, 1940, in Aberdeen, Washington, to William and Louise (Pinckney) Jacka. She married Ray E. Kahler on August 25, 1962, in Aberdeen. She is survived by her husband; a son, Ray W. Kahler (Callie) of Aberdeen; a daughter, Kristine Gardner (George) of Longview; a brother, Alan Jacka (Joan) of Everett; a sister, Jeri Bell (Darrell) of Aberdeen; three nephews, a niece, and numerous cousins.
Karen graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1958. She received her A.A. Degree from Grays Harbor College in 1960 and her B.A. in Education from Western Washington State College in 1962. She taught elementary grades in Moses Lake, Bellingham, and Longview and was a school librarian in Longview before resigning in 1970 to start raising her family.
Karen was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1984. She will be remembered for her kind heart and generosity.
A memorial service is planned for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the Gebert Chapel, Longview Community Church.
