On Wednesday, August 28, 2013, Kathleen Raby returned to Heaven while at home surrounded by her family and friends.
Kathy was born on November 17, 1946, to Vincent (Mack) and Shirley (Ginger) McElwee in Aberdeen, Washington. She grew up in Aberdeen, graduated from Weatherwax High School (Class of 1965) and spent countless weekends at Lake Quinault, where she met Richard Raby. Kathy and Richard were married for 47 years. Shortly after marrying, the couple moved to Alaska while Richard served in the Army. They welcomed their first son, Mike, while living in Alaska. A few years later they moved back to Washington and welcomed their second son, Brian. After several years in Vancouver, Wash. Kathy went to work for Community First Bank and then Cascade Rehabilitation. After retiring, Kathy and Richard moved back to Grays Harbor and settled in Ocean Shores. Kathy worked part-time at Anchor Bank in Ocean Shores and enjoyed touring the west in their RV. Kathy also enjoyed visits by her grandkids, bonfires, camping trips with the RV club and trips to Hood Canal.
Kathy is survived by her husband, two sons and their wives, Mike (wife, Kelly) of Vancouver, Wash. and Brian (wife, Holly) of Battle Ground, Wash.; six grandchildren, Jordan, Brandon, Justin, Austin, Heidi and Isaiah; as well as her mother, Shirley (Ginger) and her sister, Eileen.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7th, 2013, at the Galilean Lutheran Church 824 Ocean Shores Blvd. NW, Ocean Shores, Wash. 98569. A potluck reception will follow. Donations can be made to Galilean Lutheran Church and/or the American Cancer Society in Kathy’s name.
