Kathryn “Kathy” Ann Goan was born on November 29, 1954, in Aberdeen, Washington, to Dorothy (Blamy) and Gilbert Richardson. She went home to be with the Lord on April 24, 2012, of complications from lymphoma. She was 57.
She was an inspiration to all and was an amazing example of faith, courage, and grace. Her wish throughout life’s journey was to glorify her Heavenly Father. She loved life and lived each day fully. She was joyful and hopeful in all circumstances.
Kathy took pleasure in spending time with her family, listening to music, attending concerts, reading, praying, Bible study, riding her purple cruiser, walking, hiking, crafting and the sunshine.
One of her greatest joys was being “Gramma” to Hayden. He was the light of her life. She loved watching him play sports and was his biggest fan. He will remember her as “the greatest person in the world.”
Kathy attended J.M. Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen, Wash. and worked in Eugene, Ore. at Serenity Lane, a drug and alcohol treatment center. She was a proud member of the Environmental Services Team, enjoyed encouraging patients and loved her co-workers, whom she considered to be friends.
Surviving Kathy are her daughter, Tracy Richardson and grandson, Hayden of Springfield, Ore., and daughter, Kim (Garity) Mueller of Eugene, Ore.; brothers, Gilbert Richardson and Michael Richardson; sisters, Mary Beavers, Betty Blumberg and Beverly Boyd.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother and two brothers, Charles and Joseph Richardson.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Springfield First Church of the Nazarene, 1761 E Street in Springfield, Ore. Inurnment will be private at Springfield Memorial Gardens.
