Keith M. Beegle, 85 years of age and a longtime East Hoquiam, Washington resident, died on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at his East Hoquiam home. He was born on June 29, 1927, in Seattle, Washington, to Burton Linton and Gladys Juliette (Smith) Beegle.
He was raised and attended school in the Queen Anne area and following his graduation he served with the Merchant Marine during World War Two. Following the war he returned to the Seattle area and was married to Eleanor Salyer at her parent’s home on Queen Anne Hill. He attended Seattle Pacific College where his father was a mathematics professor.
Keith began his life long floor covering profession in Seattle. The family came to the Harbor area in 1962, and from the mid 1960’s through the mid 1970’s he owned and operated the Carpet House. He then moved to Olympia where he was a commercial estimator. After retirement he returned to Hoquiam.
While in the Olympia area he was an active member of the United Methodist Church. He liked to listen to Christian music and read books about his faith.
He enjoyed travel about the United States, to include Georgia, Texas and Hawaii where the couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He loved gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Beegle of the East Hoquiam family home; three daughters, Sharyl Goodenough of East Hoquiam, Terri Jean Smith (Dennis) of Stanwood and Gale Reynvaan (Mike) of Walla Walla; one sister, Doris Mae Archer of Visalia, California; eight fabulous grandchildren; and nine delightful great-grandchildren and other relatives. He was preceded in death in 2009 by his son-in-law, Allen Goodenough, with whom he worked in the carpet industry for numerous years.
His family will long remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Coleman Mortuary, 422 - 5th Street in Hoquiam.
Interment will be held in the Sunset Memorial Park in Hoquiam.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 26, 2013, at the Immanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Kent Gravley officiating.
Direction is by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
