Kenneth “Ken” Kiliz, 77, passed away April 3, 2013, at his home in Port Orchard.
Ken was born on July 24, 1935, in Minot, North Dakota, to Louis and Rose Kiliz. He graduated from Montesano High School in 1953, where he received an award for perfect attendance from first through twelfth grade.
He then joined the Navy and served on minesweepers, including the USS Vigor, until 1959. He graduated from the University of Washington where he earned his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, then was employed at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as an Electrical Engineer, for 21 years.
Ken was quick to help family, a neighbor or friend in need. His wit, sarcasm, smile and laugh could brighten anyone’s day. He loved going to garage sales and auctions looking for the perfect bargain, whether he needed it or not. He had a passion for gardening and loved his cats. He would also feed any other animal that came around, especially the squirrels and raccoons. He was a member of the Kitsap Gem and Mineral Society.
Ken was preceded in death by his father, Louis; mother, Rose; and brother, Richie. His brother Bob followed in death on April 4, 2013. He is survived by his daughters, Denise Kiliz Yates and Julaine Pettis; granddaughter, Harley Pettis; brother, Jim (Deanna) Kiliz, and family; sisters, Ann Kiliz and Jeanne Reagan and family; brother Robert’s family; and best friends, Bill and Ada Venard.
A memorial gathering will be held from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at St. John’s Catholic Church hall at 414 Broadway, Montesano, Wash.

Best respects would be, to do something nice for someone else. That’s what Dad would have done.
