Kim Marie Saunders-Brinkly, 52 years of age, died on Monday, October 22, 2012, at Providence Saint Peter Hospital in Olympia, Washington. She was born on February 9, 1960, in Aberdeen, Washington to Lloyd and Mary Lou (Phillips) Saunders. She was an enrolled member of the Quinault Indian Nation.
She was raised and attended school in the Brady area and was baptized in the area Catholic Church and attended a Catholic School. In 1978, she graduated from Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen. She attended Grays Harbor College for two years and received her AA degree. She moved to the Yakima area in 1985 and on September 2, 1987, she was married to Louis E. Saunders in Prosser, Washington. In 1989, the couple moved to Elma, Washington were she had since resided.
Kim was a secretary and an administrative assistant at the Quinault Mental Health Clinic in Taholah.
Kim had volunteered at the Montesano Health and Rehabilitation Center in their activities department. She and her husband, Louis, had often traveled to the area mountains where he was a ski patrol volunteer and she stayed in the lodges to enjoy the fireplace and hot chocolate.
Kim is survived by her mother, Mary Lou Saunders of Aberdeen; her father, Lloyd Saunders of Cosmopolis; her son, Skip E. Saunders of Bellingham; her sisters, Veronica Johnson of Ocean Shores and Shelley R. Noble of Aberdeen; one granddaughter, Madeline Saunders and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis, in 2011.
There will be no formal funeral services.
Cremations arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary, 422 – 5th Street in Hoquiam, Washington.
