Lawrence “Corkey” E. Perrigo, 74, of Lewistown died on Tuesday afternoon, September 24, 2013, at his home of cancer. He was born October 1, 1938, in Missaukee County, Michigan, the son of Lawrence and Freda (Pitz) Perrigo. He received his education in Michigan and then entered the United States Army serving until August of 1959.
Corkey returned to Michigan and on December 17, 1959, he was united in marriage to Joan Camp in Lake City, Mich. They lived in Michigan and he trained in mechanic’s school. They moved to Washington in 1965 and he worked as a mechanic for several construction companies retiring from ITT Rainer in 1983. They continued to live in Amanda Park, Washington until moving to Lewistown in 2006. Corkey always wanted to own a meat shop and last year his dream came true and his son will continue with the business.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Joan, of the family home in Lewiston, Mont.; son, Larry of Lewistown; granddaughter, Nikita (Niki); step-grandson, Kevin Higgins, Jr.; and brother, Grant E. of Amanda Park, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
A Celebration of Life for Lawrence “Corkey” Perrigo will be at 11:00 a.m. on his birthday, Tuesday, October 1st, 2013, at his home at 815 North Dawes Street in Lewiston. At his request cremation has taken place.
