Lawrence Elton Sims of Aberdeen passed away at Grays Harbor Community Hospital on Sunday, October 14, 2012. He was 61. Larry was born December 2, 1950, in Hot Springs, Arkansas to Claude and Margaret (Bandy) Sims.
Larry was raised in Hot Springs and also lived in California where he graduated from Mt. Whitney High School in Visalia.
On November 7, 1998, Larry married Joyce Campbell in Tacoma. She survives him at the family home in Aberdeen.
Larry had worked as a drywall installer, brake specialist and retired from Jiffy Lube as a store manager.
Larry started his call of Pastor with Heart of David Ministry. He was ordained with Faith House Ministry and was on the board, until recently.
He loved to exhort the Word of God; he enjoyed fishing, bowling, camping, hunting and being a great mechanic.
In addition to his wife Joyce; Larry is survived by his mother, Margaret of Tacoma; five children, Michael Johnson and Brian Herrington both of Tacoma, James Pace and Annie Munson both of Tennessee, and Jenny Sponton of Yelm, Wash.; siblings, Joseph Sims of Tacoma, Tommy and Bill Shatswell both of Tennessee, Rebekah Davenport of Hoquiam, Deborah Horowitz of Idaho, Brenda Shatswell-Johnston and Vicki K. Barrow both of Tennessee; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Central Park Neighborhood Church, 7010 Bryrwood Dr, Aberdeen at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2012.
