LeRoy Ludwig Nelson, age 83 years old, a long time Aberdeen resident, passed away on May 12, 2013. He was born to John Ludwig Nelson and Pearl (Uglem) Nelson on December 22, 1929, in Montesano, Wash.
He joined the Army in 1947 at the age of 16 and was stationed around the world including England, Germany, Korea and Japan as a Radar, Switchboard and Communications Operator. LeRoy spent 8 years in the Korean Conflict.
After the service, LeRoy returned to Aberdeen and joined the lumber industry working for EC Millers Lumber, Bay City Lumber, Western Lumber, Anderson Middleton and finally joining Mayr Brothers. He worked for Mayr Brothers pulling green chain until his retirement in December of 91 at the age of 62.
He married Carol Ann Womer in 1961. She has preceded him in death.
He is survived by sons, Jerry Nelson, Dale and Kris Nelson, Ed Kramer and Misti Conway; daughters, Dianna and Bob Wachtel, Sharon and Joe Sleasman, and Lorna Nelson; grandchildren Jessica and Ray Moore, Jerrylee Nelson, Brandon and Tiffany Siano, Nick Nelson, Courtney Nelson, Joel Nelson, Kirk Undem, Christopher Burckhard, Alex and Shawni Wachtel, Amelia Wachtel, Erik Pink, Michael Miller, Nathan Smith-Kramer, Samantha Smith-Kramer, Jimmie Smith-Kramer, Jayman Conway; and great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Bruckhard, Emma Siano, Eastyn Siano and Dane Wachtel.
His brother, Donald Crisp preceded him in death.
A celebration of LeRoy’s life will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at 1302 Forsythe.
