Aberdeen resident Louis R. Audette “Bud” passed away at Grays Harbor Community Hospital on Thursday, September 27, 2012. He was 72 years old. Louis was born on August 23, 1940, in Chehalis, Washington, to parents Lois and Felix Audette. He then attended the old Stevens School and graduated from Weatherwax High School. While growing up in Aberdeen he played for the original Aberdeen Little League then Babe Ruth. Bud played as a pitcher for Weatherwax High School. He then spent many years coaching baseball.
Following high school Bud was employed as a longshoreman. He was a lifetime ILWU member.
On Valentine’s Day in 1962 he married Marilyn Jean Edison; they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last February.
In 2000, Bud retired due to complications with diabetes, but you could always find him having coffee and breakfast with some of his closest friends, Jack Berry, Walt Wilson and Ralph Daniels. He enjoyed spending many of his mornings at the Cosmopolis boat launch. And he also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Louis is survived by his four children; Mike Audette of Seattle, James Audette of Montesano, Chris (Joe) Raffelson of Cosmopolis, and Laurie Audette of Olympia; a brother, Marty Audette of Renton; four grandchildren, Kaitylnn Audette, Jared Daniels, and Josh and Jolie Raffelson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private graveside service for family only will take place on Monday, October 1st followed by a public memorial service at 12:00 at the Cosmopolis Lions Club.
