Louise S. Cochran


Former Hoquiam resident Louise S. Cochran, 93, of Baker City, Oregon, died November 1, 2012, at Settler’s Park Assisted Living Facility.

Louise was born February 5, 1919, to Carl and AnnaBelle Sample in Paradise, California. She was preceded in death by both her parents; her sister, Marie Fifield; brothers, Carl Sample, Loydd Sample, and Emery Sample; daughter Josephine McDaniel; son, Ernest Leggett Jr.; great-granddaughter, Katherine Avila; and great-grandson, Matthew Dean German.

Louise was active for many years in the V.F.W. Auxillary. She was a 3rd phase 4-H leader, part of the Jurisdictional Rebekah Lodge #1 Nevada and in later years the L.D.S. Church. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, sewing, cooking, camping, fishing and had training working with factory power sewing machines. She worked many years as a live-in housekeeper, and cattle ranch cook.

She is survived by her daughters, Ann (Ray) German of Cosmopolis, Washington, and Jean McDaniel of Chico, California; sons, Allen McDaniel and Rick Leggett both of Baker City, Oregon; nephew, Lee Fifield of Dalzel, South Carolina; numerous other neices and nephews; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

At 2 p.m. a memorial graveside service is planned for December 7, 2012, at the Paradise Cemetary. Arrangements are being handled by Gray’s West & Co Pioneer Chapel in Baker City, Oregon.
