Marcella Katherine (Ma) Mielke - March 12, 2013
Montesano resident Marcella Katherine (Ma) Mielke passed away on March 12, 2013, at Summit Pacific Medical Center in Elma, Washington. She was 89. Marcella was born on September 29, 1923, in Zumbrota, Minnesota, to Oscar and Edith (Henrichs) Heydmann.
On August 29, 1942, she married Clarence Oscar Mielke in Zumbrota, Minnesota. They had seven children and had lived in Minnesota before moving to Washington in 1967.
Marcella was a homemaker and loved to cook, bake, sew and spend time with her children and numerous grandchildren.
Family was very important to her and was the glue that kept everyone together. In 1981, she and her husband, Clarence, retired and started dividing their time between Arizona and Washington. Marcella was a member of the Lutheran Church, Montesano VFW, Moose Lodge and the Eagles.
She is survived by her seven wonderful children, Bonnie (Ron) Eidem of Kasson, Minn., Gary (Laura) Mielke of McCleary, Wash., Larry (Gwen) Mielke, of Elma, Wash., Cynthia (Stuart) Gerr of Deer River, Minn., Julene (Michael) Donovick of Aberdeen, Wash., Debi (Dan) Fisher of Elma, Wash. and Lisa Rowland and Don of Elma, Wash.; 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Marlene (Harvey) Busby; numerous nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Anna Williams.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Mielke; parents, Edith and Oscar Heydmann; a daughter, Marie Kay; a brother, Bill Heydmann; and a grandson, Travis Mielke.
A Celebration of Life Potluck will take place at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 19th at the Montesano Moose Lodge.
