Margaret A. Warren, a former Willapa Harbor resident, died on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at her home in Shelton, Washington at the age of 86. Margaret was born February 21, 1926, in Willapa, Washington, to Walter Scott and Flora Ellen (Ellsworth) Alexander.
Margaret graduated from Willapa Valley High School. She was very sports oriented as a student and had been a major supporter at the ball games even years after graduating. She married her husband of 65 years, Ray Warren on August 20, 1947, in Seattle. He survives her at the family home in Shelton. Margaret and Ray owned and operated Warren’s Jewelry, retiring when she was 78. She was a member of the Willapa Ladies Aid, Willapa Valley Booster Club and in years past taught Sunday School at the Willapa Methodist Church.
She was a fabulous cook and loved to sew. Margaret also enjoyed spending time in her flower garden. Hawaii was her favorite vacation spot and she talked about the beautiful islands often. She lived on Phillips Lake where she loved to swim.
Margaret is survived by her loving husband, Ray; their son, Buddy (Janice) Warren of Raymond; daughters, Geraldine (Jim) Kaech of Mount Vernon, Kathleen Warren of Olympia and Colleen Warren of Shelton; a sister, Geraldine Huffer of Milwaukie, Ore.; many nieces and nephews; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and was expecting her first great-great-grandchild in January. Margaret loved her grandchildren with all her heart and she will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd; and sisters, Jeane, Dixie and Shirley.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2012, at Fern Hill Cemetery in Menlo, with a luncheon to follow at the Willapa United Church.
