Margaret Fogde passed into the arms of Jesus January 3, 2013. Her family, friends, and caregivers remember her as generous, loyal, sweet, sassy, devoted, witty, audacious, welcoming, faithful, dependable, and caring. Her sense of humor became legendary when she told a thief (who appeared in her bedroom at 2 a.m., demanding to know where she kept her money) “Far away from here!” That sparkle in her eyes and signature crooked smile warmed all our hearts. Many thought of Margaret as the “energizer bunny” always popping up again when knocked down.

She was passionate about each family member’s personal journey, attending recitals, plays, concerts, graduations, career events, etc. She surrounded herself with photos of generations of family members (along with walls and counters covered with calendars and pictures of tame and wild cats!). She brought us with her to Pacific Northwest Ballet, opera, symphony, Cirque du Soleil, Ice Capades, almost anything that might involve music or dancing! She loved to travel and often brought us on Holland America and World Wildlife Cruises. She financially supported our missionary work, education, cars, homes, travel and on and on. She was always there to help fulfill our dreams. This generosity extended to uncounted charitable organizations; she cared equally for all living things and supported efforts to heal the world spiritually and physically.

Her gift of mercy called her to use her training as a Registered Nurse to voluntarily care for others through the Red Cross Blood Bank, the FISH Medical Transportation Service, as well as caring for many failing family members in her home. She was a leader for Girl Scouts and Guild Girls, and she was right there for her daughters when the grandchildren were born.

Margaret is survived by her daughters, Alice Greenwood (Howard) and Trisha Haggerty (Gordon); her grandchildren, Jene Jones (Bryon), Garet Greenwood (Leyda), Dr. Joel Greenwood (Dr. Wendy Gilbert), Deborah Haggerty, and Paul Haggerty; and her great grandchildren, Brianna and Seth Jones, Zane Lindsay and Kian Greenwood, and Daisy Rocket. Her husband, Aberdeen contractor, Gene Fogde went home to heaven before her in 1996.

The Celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at Fox Island Alliance Church, 655 6th Ave., Fox Island, WA 98333 at 4 P.M., on Saturday, February 16, 2013. Memorial donations may be sent to Fox Island Alliance Church (foxisland.org), Union Gospel Mission (ugmgraysharbor.org), Overseas Radio and Television (www.ortv.com) and Music of Remembrance (musicofremembrance.org).
