Beloved wife and mother, Margaret V. Johnson (Weiland) passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2012, from congestive heart failure at the age of 92. Margaret was born February 5, 1920, to Claude Weiland and Verna Weiland (Merry) in Centralia, Washington.
She grew up in Oakville, Wash. where she met and married Woodrow Johnson (Curly) and later built a house in Elma. Wash. where they raised 4 children. After the children started school, she began working at the shingle mill in Elma and later worked for Weyhauser in Aberdeen. She finished up her working career at the State of Washington as an Adjudicator for Medicaid clients.
Margaret had a zest for life that showed in all she did from spending time with her family, her love of gardening, bird watching, fishing, knitting and canning to her sense of humor. She was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Elma for 60 years and her faith was an inspiration to all of those around her. She had a way of bringing out the best in people, installing virtues and a way of making those around her want to be better.
Margaret was married for 72 years to Woodrow Wilson Johnson (Curly) of Boone County, West Virginia, he passed away in 2010. Margaret is survived by her two daughters, Sheila Johnson of Portland, Ore., and Judy Johnson of Milwaulkie, Ore.; and also her son, Henry Johnson of Montesano, Wash. Her son, James R. Johnson of Harlowton, Mont. preceeded her in death in 2006. She has five granddaughters, Tena Keller of Harlowton, Mont., Wendy Johnson of Montesano, Wash., Sarah Sigler of Montesano, Wash., Jeannie James of Montesano, Wash., and Thea Johnson of Milwaulkie, Ore.; and is also survived by 7 wonderful great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is to be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Elma, Wash. Cards and memorials may be sent to The Johnson Family, 99 Calder Rd, Elma, Washington 98541.
