Marvin Lee Kennedy


Marvin Lee Kennedy, 94 years old, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013, at his residency, The Karr House Assisted Living in Hoquiam, Washington. He was born to Robert Lee and Addie (Malar) Kennedy in 1918 at Osage, Oklahoma.

Marvin proudly served in the United States Army from 1940 until his Honorable Discharge in 1945. He married Genevieve Ellison Dondelinger on September 23, 1943, in Winona, Minnesota. After returning in 1945 from serving during World War II, Marv and Gen moved to Enid, Oklahoma. He worked at Champlin Oil Refinery until retiring in 1981 and then moving to Central Park for their first home in the Grays Harbor area. They later moved into the Aberdeen area.

Marv and Gen were very active and volunteered at the Aberdeen Senior Center. They were also members of Calvary Lutheran Church and active with senior activities there. They loved to travel in their motor home visiting relatives and tourist attractions along the way in Iowa, Minnesota, Florida and Washington. His wife passed away in 2005 after 61 years of marriage.

He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and helping others with anything. His family brought him great joy. He was a very fun loving man, with a unique laugh and a big heart.

Marvin is survived by step-daughter, Coralie Williams of Aberdeen; son, Roger (Estalee) Dondelinger of Maitland, Florida; grandchildren, Kurtis Dondelinger, Dru (Dondelinger) Burns, Jeff (Donna) Williams, Gordon (Toni) Williams, Gayle (Loren) Wade. He has ten great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Leonard, Elton, Thelma, Charles, and Barbara and a granddaughter, Christi Williams.

Memorial donations may be made to the Aberdeen Senior Center or the Hoquiam Fire Department.

A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2013, at the Wynooche Cemetery in Montesano.

Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary, 422 – 5th Street in Hoquiam.
