Mary Ann Black, of Aberdeen, was born on March 14, 1930, to Jessie and Zack Warwick. She died January 14, 2013, at Pacific Care Nursing Home after a long fight with ovarian cancer. She got to say good-bye to her entire family before she passed. Mary grew up in Copalis Beach. She spent her married life in Moclips. She was married 59 years to Joseph Black, who preceded her in death.
Mary worked as a secretary at Moclips High School for many years. When Joe retired, she retired as well. They spent many years traveling and visiting their many friends around the U.S. They spent their winters in Arizona, enjoying the warm weather and a great social life.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Jo Ann Jones (John) and Dawn Wood (Bob Spitzer); grandsons, Sean Mays (Shellee) and Tyler Mays (Sunny); great-granddaughters, Summer Mays and Hailey Mays; and her devoted sister-in-law, Pat Black. She also leaves numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Mary was a kind, generous, and fun-loving lady who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. At her request, there will be no services. A gathering of friends and family will be scheduled later this summer. Donations may be made to Fred Hutchinson, Children’s Orthopedic, or your favorite charity.
