Mary Catherine Slane, 63, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2012. at her home in Central Park. Mary Cay was born July 16, 1948, in Portland, Oregon, to Dr. Robert and Mary (McCall) Done.
Mary Cay was raised in Portland, Ore., and graduated from Holy Child High Academy in 1966. She graduated from Oregon State University in 1970, and then graduated from Portland State University with her master’s degree in 1990.
On August 18, 1973, Mary Cay married Richard Brian Slane in Portland, Ore. He survives her at the family home.
She had worked for North Clackamas School District from 1970 to 1977. They moved to Grays Harbor in 1979 and was a teacher and principal at St. Mary’s School from 1979 to 1991 and then retired from Steven’s Elementary in 2011.
Mary Cay had been a member of St. Mary Church in Aberdeen, St. John Church in Montesano, Delta Kappa Gamma Society and Aberdeen P.E.O.
Family was most important to her. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, shopping, going to plays and shows, golf, swimming and spending time with her friends and family.
In addition to her loving husband, Rick; she is survived by her daughters, Kristen and son-in-law, Ed Draper of Olympia, Wash., and Melissa and son-in-law, A.J. Franke of Tieton, Wash; two brothers, Michael Done of Tigard, Ore., and Patrick Done of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Sandra Franz of Portland, Ore.; and four grandchildren, Avery and Addison Draper and Sydney and Trent Franke. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Terry Hosman.
A memorial mass will take place at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 21, 2012, at St. Mary Church in Aberdeen. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s Catholic School.
