Our much beloved father, partner, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend Matthew DeLaine Blecha, passed away after a short illness on April 5, 2013.
Matt was born May 21, 1952, to DeLaine and Abbie Blecha, in Seattle, Washington. He graduated from J.M. Weatherwax High School in 1971. After high school, Matt worked at Swanson’s Grocery Store for many years and most recently at Jay’s Fruit Stand. Many will recall Matt from his days owning and operating Big Matt’s Farm Stand near the current Wal-Mart location.
Matthew will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Blecha Yeager, her husband, Tyson, and their children, Ryan and Julia of Graham; daughter, Stephanie Blecha-Maharaj, her husband, Gov, and their daughter, Corinne of Sammamish. He is also survived by his companion, Helen King of Aberdeen. Matt will be greatly missed by his sister, Debbie (Blecha) Stensager and her husband, Mark of Aberdeen; brother, Mark Blecha of Aberdeen; brother, Mike Blecha and his partner, Dave Nations of Florida; and sister, Connie Shellan and her husband, Ken of California; as well as many nephews and a niece.
Matt loved and was so loved by his family and many friends in the community.
