Mildred Mary Adams, 85 years of age and a resident of Hoquiam, Washington, died on Monday, September 17, 2012, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Washington. She was born on November 6, 1926, in Witherbee, New York, to Louis R. and Margaret (Harrington) Genier.
Mildred was raised and attended school in the Ithaca, New York area. In 1942, she was married to Leonard Chatterton at Hudson Falls, New York and they were later divorced. In 1963, she married Tommy Lynn in Tucson, Arizona. He died in 1965.
She had worked at various types of employment from factory jobs to the C. R. Bard Medical Supply Company in Queensbury, New York.
In 1968, she married William “Bill” Adams and they were later divorced.
Her volunteer work included participation in the Salvation Army, the Foster Grandparent Association, Sight Impared of Grays Harbor Together (SIGHT) and at various Harbor church activities. Her family knew her as a “prayer warrior” and “the best grandmother in the world”. She enjoyed doing crafts and rock collecting.
Mildred is survived by her two sons, Leonard Chatterton of Glen Falls, New York and Randy Chatterton of Hoquiam, Washington; her two daughters, Margaret Olson of LaCenter, Washington and Evanna Burch of Ocala, Florida; three brothers, Ronald Genier of Queensbury, New York, Milford Genier of Fort Edwards, New York, and Gerry Genier of Las Vegas, Nevada; one sister, Norma Saunders of Argyle, New York; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Thursday, September 27, 2012, at the Harbor Assembly of God Church, 716 “M” Street in Hoquiam with Pastor Kenneth Middleton officiating.
Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary, 422 – 5th Street in Hoquiam, Washington.
