Minnie Deen Thompson, age 92, died on May 16, 2012, in Everett, Washington. Mrs. Thompson was born on January 4, 1920, in Rocky, Oklahoma, to David Monroe and Nellie Caledonia (Priest) Deen. She was raised in Oklahoma and graduated high school in New Mexico, having moved there in her senior year.
On July 11, 1938, she and Archie Thompson were married in Estancia, New Mexico. They lived there until moving to Santa Rosa in 1945. After one year, the couple relocated to San Jose where they remained until moving to Lake County, California, in 1979. Before coming to the Harbor in 1990, they had lived in Graham, Washington for 8 years.
Minnie had been a member of Baptist Churches wherever she had lived, most recently Immanuel Baptist Church in Hoquiam, Washington.
Surviving relatives include a son, Doyle Ross Thompson of Tacoma, Washington; three daughters, Sandra Deen of Hoquiam, Gail Sue Holmgren of Rochester, Washington and LaNell Kay Jansen of Everett, Washington; seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Archie; a brother, John Deen; and three sisters, Jennie Weddle, Daisy Jarnagin and Doris Smith died previously.
A time of visitation will be held at the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 21, 2012, and from 9:00 a.m. to 12 Noon on Tuesday.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Immanuel Baptist Church. A private graveside committal will be held prior to the church service.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, P.O. Box 703, Hoquiam, WA 98550.
