Nancy Lou Perez, 87 years old and a resident of Grays Harbor since the early 1990’s died on Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen.
Nancy was born on December 16, 1925, in Sherman, Texas, to Joseph and Rosa Jo (Park) Neely. She attended school in Texas and moved to California where she met and married Arthur Perez on May 17, 1943, in San Fransisco. He died on August 30, 1998.
Nancy worked in the California shipyards as a welder during World War II. After the war she was employed as a machine operator for Best Foods in California. In 1991, Nancy and Arthur moved to Hoquiam.
She was very active in the Baptist Church and she liked to do quilting, sewing, crocheting and gardening, as well as enjoying to read. She also liked to shop at the craft and fabric stores.
Nancy is survived by two sons, Sherman Perez of Norwalk, Calif. and Andre Perez of Anaheim, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and special friends, Beverly and Fred Coen of Montesano. She was preceded in death by a son, Gregory; daughter, Michelle; and four brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at Central Park Baptist Church, 6308 Central Park Drive with graveside services following at 2:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park in Hoquiam.
Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
