Norman Edward Ochsner, a 51 year Harbor resident, passed-away on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at his home in Elma. He was 78. Norman was born August 2, 1934, in Tuttle, North Dakota to Edward and Christina (Schuler) Ochsner. He grew up and attended school in Tuttle.
Norma was drafted into the U.S. Army and served from 1956 to 1958 as a cook. He was a residential and commercial brick mason for most of his life. His craftsmanship can be seen all over Elma and nearby communities. In addition to Tuttle and Elma, he also lived in Missoula, Montana.
Norman married Shirley Ann Schatz in Carson, North Dakota on October 17, 1959. She survives him at the family home. Norman is a lifetime member of the American Legion and the Elma Eagles. He enjoyed hunting (especially bird hunting), fishing and playing pool.
Along with his wife, Shirley; Norman is survived by his daughter, Jalaine (Milton) Brown of Yelm and his son, Virgil (Dana) Ochsner of Elma. He is also survived by his brother, Marvin Ochsner of North River; nine grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Norman is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Travis Ochsner (2010); sister, Vera Wetzel; and brothers, Armen, Vernon and Lawrence.
A graveside inurnment service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Masonic Cemetery in Elma. A service of Remembrance will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the Elma Eagles.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Elma Eagles Christmas Fund.
