Othel Wayne Castor passed away on January 13, 2013, after a two year battle with cancer.
Born on September 9, 1939, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Othel and Edith Castor. Wayne moved with his family from Blackwell to Hoquiam, Wash. At age 17, he entered the U.S. Marines with his longtime friend, Bill Cooper. He then transferred into the U.S. Air Force where he served as an airport crash firefighter. After five years of service he was honorable discharged and soon after that he wed his longtime love, Charlotte Darlene Nordstrom.
An animal lover at heart, it was not unusual for Wayne to bring home a stray dog or cat. Wayne was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. One of his favorite times of the year was hunting season. Spending time outdoors with his family brought him great joy.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Othel and Edith Castor; brother, Clarence (Bud) Castor; sisters, Margaret Burke and JoAnn Schimelpfenig; and a grandson, Jordan Wayne Spinas. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Charlotte (Mickie) Darlene Castor; daughter, Terri (Jim) Niemi, grandchildren, Michelle and Kelly; daughter, SanDee (Rich) Spinas, grandchildren, Makayla and Michael; son, Paul Castor, grandchildren, Chandra, Stacey, Megan and Paula; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Jean Howard, Wanda Bratt and Pat Pella; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held for the family at the Elks Lodge on S. Boone St. in Aberdeen at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2013. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
