Patricia Ann “Pat” Carter, a fifteen year Elma resident died September 12, 2012, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen. She was 80. Pat was born September 14, 1931, in Twin Falls, Idaho to Dolph and Sarah (Hamby) Murray. She grew up in Kimberly, Idaho.
She married Frank Carter in Washington in 1964. Pat worked in Jackpot, Nevada in casinos as a cook and taxi driver, she owned and operated a dairy farm and the Bruneau One Stop as cook and bartender in Bruneau, Idaho. She also worked at Maple Lane School.
Pat is a past member of the IOOF Rebekahs, the Eagles and was a Boy Scout den mother. She loved painting, making ceramics, sewing and cooking. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her two pet turtles.
She is survived by her children; Dell (Shelley) Carter, Zella (Mel Beeson) Bybee, Buck Carter, Danny (Jean) Carter and Kathy (Pat) Miller, all of Elma, Washington. Pat is also survived by brother, Ike (Tava) Murray of Elma, 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank Carter; and her brother, Darrell Murray.
The family would also like to acknowledge the dedication of their sister, Zella in taking care of Patricia over the past couple of years.
