Patricia Ann (Pat) Gray, 87, a longtime Grayland resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 24, 2013, in Aberdeen, Washington.
Pat was born June 8, 1926, in San Diego, California as a triplet with her two brothers, James and Curtis to James and Blanche (Fleury) Malaney. Pat grew up in San Diego, once traveling with a high school friend by trolley car from San Diego to Los Angeles on a day adventure.
She married Jack Gray on January 6, 1946 in San Diego. Jack and Pat settled in Arlington, Washington to raise their three children.
Pat worked for many years as a telephone switchboard operator, and later while living in the Seattle area worked for Princess Cruises where at an annual picnic she won a trip to China, once again taking an adventure in life. She enjoyed her family, quilting group in Grayland, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and her membership in the St. Paul Catholic Church Altar Society in Westport Washington and many friends in the Grayland community.
Pat is survived by her children, Elizabeth (Betsy) Caesar (Jim) of Mill Creek, Daniel Gray of Valdosta, Georgia and Mark Gray (Sheila) of Centralia. She is also survived by her sister, Blanche Mills of Reisterstown, Maryland and brother, Joseph Malaney of Sarasota, Florida. Her grandchildren are Mona Caesar Johnson (Bryan), Mike Caesar (Cheryl), Matt Caesar (Zoe), Amelia Gray Fluryin (Yan), Steven Gray, Marie Gray Wu (Andy), Lucas Gray and Adam Gray. Great-grandchildren, Lauren and Cameron Johnson, Charles and Nicholas Caesar, Ronan and Sofia Caesar. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Blanche Malaney; brothers, James and Curtis Malaney; her husband, Jack Gray; and her good friend, Frank Cholaz.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the St. Paul Catholic Church in Westport, Washington.
Arrangements are under the direction of Whiteside Funeral Chapel, Aberdeen, Washington.
