Phyllis Marie Boyer

Phyllis Marie Boyer, a 70-year Grays Harbor resident, passed-away Wednesday, October 3, 2012, in Montesano at the age of 84. Phyllis was born June 26, 1928 in Grangeville, Idaho to Phillip John and Verna Irene (Davis) Stadtman. Phyllis grew up in Kooskia, Idaho; Tigard, Oregon and Elma, Washington. Phyllis was a graduate of Elma High School. She was Editor of the Cloquallum Yearbook, voted Most Friendly by classmates, and was the Salutatorian of the graduating class of 1947. Phyllis married Quentin Boyer on August 25, 1948, at the Elma First Baptist Church. Quentin survives her at the family home.

Phyllis worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Myers until the birth of her first child. She then chose to be a full time mother and homemaker. Phyllis was a member of the Rainbows, Rebekahs, Mary & Martha Guild, and the Grandmother’s Club. She was a prolific letter writer (noteworthy for her artistic penmanship), enjoyed embroidery, walking, and nobody was a better cook or baker.

Phyllis was the cornerstone of her family. She unconditionally loved those around her and derived great fulfillment from the nurturing and care she gave to others. As the foundation of her family, she was loved by all, and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her husband, Quentin, Phyllis is survived by five children, Charles (Laurie) Boyer, Yokosuka, Japan, Dennis (Lisa) Boyer, Wasilla, Alaska, Morris “Merc” (Nina) Boyer, Elma, Washington, Cindy (Jim) Starks, Elma, and Maria (Kris) Boyer, Enumclaw, Washington. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Jessica, Erin, Rachel, Garrett, Kelly, Breanne, Kali, and Bryce. Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents; and her younger sister, Hazel Stadtman Everett.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Whiteside Mortuary at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2012, followed immediately by a social gathering at the Guest House Inn (Microtel) in Elma.
