Richard Charles Davis, a longtime Satsop resident, passed away at home on August 27, 2012. He was 66 yrs old. Richard was born and raised in Aberdeen to Horton W. Davis and Anne Scheffer Davis on December 4, 1945. He quit school in 8th grade and went to work with his dad, first fishing and later dredging where he learned to drive a Cat, his favorite thing to do. He spent 17 years working for Quigg Brothers before going to work for Manson Construction dredging until he retired in 1998 at the age of 52.
He married Gloria Eddins Davis in 1964. They had three children, Richard H. Davis, Corrina Anne Lynch and Christina Lynn (Victor) Ackley. They were divorced in 1988. Richard moved to Satsop in 1989 and in 1998 married longtime companion, Diana Vandenberge on Halloween night in Reno, Nev. She survives him at the family home.
Richard loved hunting, fishing and camping in his younger days and golf in his older ones. He loved watching golf, football and NASCAR especially Jeff Gordon. He loved watching cooking shows and was a great cook himself. He was preceded in death by his parents; older brother, Jerry; and his two best friends, Sony and David. Besides his children, he leaves behind a step-daughter, Allison Lee Long; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He requested no funeral but friends and family are welcome to stop by the house in Satsop anytime.
