Richard L. Rhoads, 64, of the North Beach area, passed away September 4, 2013, surrounded by family. Richard was born October 7, 1948, to Cleo and Betty Rhoads of Montesano. He was a graduate of Moclips High School, and a U.S. Navy veteran of Vietnam. He married Sandra Hoyles at the Chapel by the Sea on September 12, 1971.
Born the son of a grocer, Richard and his family pioneered the Rhoads Grocery of Pacific Beach, bringing fresh produce and meats to the locals. From there, Richard worked at Top Foods, Charlie’s Produce, Taholah Mercantile, Jay’s Fruit Stand and Lil’s Pantry.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Cleo Rhoads and brother, Terry Rhoads of Montesano. He is survived by his mother, Betty Rhoads of the Beehive Assisted Living in McCleary; and his loving boxer companion, Roo.
Please join his wife, Sandra Rhoads of Centralia; daughter, Tina Hendrickson of Port Angeles; son, Richard (Tom) Rhoads of Copalis; and daughter, Tammy Rhoads Berg of Centralia, as they celebrate his life at the Chapel by the Sea in Moclips, where Richard and Sandra were married 43 years ago. The potluck celebration will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2013.
