Richard Lester Maxwell, 70, passed away at his home in Aberdeen on Tuesday, July 30, 2013. He was born May 28, 1943, in Colfax, Washington to Richard and Wanda (Wendover) Maxwell. He was raised in Winona, Wash. and graduated in 1961 from LaCross High School in LaCross, Wash. He had also lived in Everett before moving to Aberdeen in 2010.
He married Kay G. Kelly in Cheney, Wash. She survives him at the family home. Richard had worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for many years.
He had served as Deacon at the First Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen; an Elder at Cascade View Presbyterian Church in Everett and was a member of the American Legion and Koinonia of Wash.
Richard enjoyed fishing, woodworking and computers.
In addition to his loving wife, Kay; Richard is survived by sons, Aaron Maxwell, Paul Maxwell and Christopher Maxwell; daughters, Roberta Shurgars, Candy Maxwell and Darleen Livingston; his sister, Janice Altmiller; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2013, at the First Presbyterian Church of Aberdeen. Memorial donations are suggested to the Aberdeen Food Bank.
