Rita Claire Wilson passed away peacefully at home on Camano Island, Washington, with her family, on July 17, 2012, after a heroic fight with cancer. In her illness, she was an example of courage and patience to us all.
Rita is survived by her husband, Michael F. Wilson, and her son, Timothy L. Wilson, both of them the love of her life. She was a caring stepmom to Daphne Dugan, Patricia (Gordie) Melara, Michelle (Delvin) Zimmermann , Stephanie (Eric) Bryant, Michael (Emily) Wilson, and their children.
Rita was born in Oakland, California on May 15, 1953, the youngest of the children of Dr. William J. and Mary Frances O’Connell Kennedy. She is survived by her brothers and sisters, William (MaryAnn), Reverend Jerrold, Kevin (Mary Anne), Mary Frances Kennedy-Chapman, John, Margaret, Brian, Kathleen, and Norene (Kelsey) Broyles. She was also the sister-in-law of Susan Jarmanon and Linda LaFeat, and the niece of Jean O’Connell of Portland, Oregon. She dearly loved all her cousins, nieces and nephews, and their children, and she will be fondly remembered by all of them.
She and Mike were long-time residents of Ocean Shores, Washington, where Rita was a teacher’s aide in the elementary school and instrumental in the implementation and success of the Ti-In Satellite Distant Learning Program at North Beach High School.
A Prayer Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 23, 2012, at Marlatt Funeral Home, 713 Central Avenue N., Kent, Wash. The committal will follow at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, WA. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date in Oakland, California.
