Elma resident Robert “Bobby” Sturgill passed away at Harborview Medical Center on Friday, February 8, 2013. He was 62 years old. Bobby was born in Maryland on July 22, 1950, to Joseph and Amy Lou (Catron) Sturgill.
He had lived in California and Oregon before moving to Grays Harbor. Bobby had worked as a log truck driver for over 30 years.
He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, playing drums, camping and fishing. Bobby once held the record for marathon drumming nonstop for 150 hours.
Bobby is survived by his children, Kevin and Joseph Sturgill both of Aberdeen; Konrad Sturgill of Walla Walla, Wash.; Carrie Smith and Jody Sturgill both of Aberdeen; brothers, Joe and Vince Sturgill both of California; sisters, Betty Addington of Olympia and Chandra Chance of Arizona; four grandchildren, Kaycee, Gage, Callie, Payton and one on the way.
A Celebration of Life and potluck will be held from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at the Aberdeen Eagles located at 208 W. Market.
