Robert “Bob” Carl Nix

Robert “Bob” Carl Nix passed away peacefully in his home in Sublimity, Oregon on Tuesday, August 20, 2013. Bob was born in Rochester, Minnesota on August 29, 1948, to Fred Nix and Lucille (White) Snow. When he was 5 years old, his family moved to Hoquiam, Washington, where he lived most of his life.

Bob worked as a Longshoreman for 40 years. He was a proud and active member of ILWU Local 24. As a union member, he served on the Safety Committee many times and served as the Chairman of the Safety Committee for several years. He also served his union as a member of the Executive Board.

Bob is survived by his three daughters, Marcella (Nix) Maden of Aberdeen, Wash., Serena (Nix) Frank of Aumsville, Ore., and Trudy (Nix) Hunt of Turner, Ore.; three siblings, James Nix of Silverdale, Wash., Michael Nix of Wenatchee, Wash., and Patricia Ann (Nix) Ramey of Venita, Ore.; and seven grandchildren, Joseph Maden, Andrew Hunt, Jason Maden, Brent Hunt Jr., Hannah Frank, Seth Frank and Carson Hunt.

Bob enjoyed watching Nascar, hiking, fishing, camping, picnics and his work as a Longshoreman. He loved spending time with his family and spoiling them. He was a loving father and could always bend an ear bragging about his “girls”. He was a true gentleman who opened doors and pulled out chairs until he died. His last 18 months were extremely special because he had been able to relocate to Oregon to live with his family happily and peacefully. Bob will be missed terribly by his family.

There will be a wake to remember Bob at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013, at The Legion Hall at 112 W. 1st St., Aberdeen, WA. Please join the family to celebrate and share memories.
