Robert Ray Mink, age 80, a longtime resident of Aberdeen, died on Monday, January 7, 2013, at Pacific Care Center in Hoquiam. Mr. Mink was born on August 30, 1932, at the family home home in Vesta, Washington to Vollie F. and Nona G. (Ward) Mink.
For the first five years, he attended schools in Brooklyn, Washington. The family moved to Hoquiam in 1942. He was active in scouting where he attained the rank of Star. After graduating from Hoquiam High School in 1952, he served in the U.S. Naval Reserve.
He was employed by Harbor Plywood and from 1961 to 1964, he co-owned the Lincoln Street Confectionary. From 1965 to 1989, he worked as a groundskeeper at Sunset Memorial Park. After retiring, he cared for his father until his death in 1995.
He is survived by his caregivers, Jack and Karen Miller of Aberdeen; and cousins, Betty A. Murray of Elizabethton, Tennessee and Carol Callahan of Montesano.
A private committal service will be held at Hoquiam’s Sunset Memorial Park.
