Longtime Harbor resident, Roger W. Isom, died at a Vancouver, Washington care facility on Tuesday, March 12, 2013. He was 53. Roger was born in Aberdeen on March 18, 1959, the son of Daniel L. and Ruby Mae (Newbury) Isom.
He was raised at Camp Grisdale until he was 18 and moved to Humptulips after the death of his father in 1977. He graduated from Lake Quinault High School in 1978 and had attended Grays Harbor College and Central Washington State University. He participated in a karate group in Aberdeen and liked to go hiking and he loved animals.
Roger had lived in Aberdeen for 26 years before ill health forced him to seek care.
He is survived by his mother, Ruby Bolich and her husband, Gary of Humptulips; two brothers:, Carl Allen Isom and his wife, Rose of Auburn, Wash. and Ward Trent Isom and his wife, Rhonda of Lake Stevens, Wash.
A service of celebration will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1200 Soule St., Hoquiam. Pastor Kent Gravley will officiate. A reception will follow the service at the church.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church Building Fund, 1200 Soule St., Hoquiam, WA 98550.
