Ronald James Herrin, 66 years of age, died on Saturday, November 24, 2012, at Providence Saint Peter Hospital in Olympia, Washington. He was born on June 2, 1946, at Bellingham, Washington, to Wesley Lincoln and Beatrice (Jenkins) Herrin.
He was raised and attended school in the Ferndale, Washington area and graduated from Ferndale High School in 1964.
He served with the United States Army and served in Vietnam. Following his military discharge he returned to Ferndale. There he was a dairy farmer in the Whatcom County area for numerous years.
Ronald was married to Linda S. Rowe on April 19, 1997, in Bellingham. They resided in various Washington cities until coming to Hoquiam five years ago where he had since resided. He was a frequent patron at Lana’s Hanger Café in Hoquiam. He attended the New Beginnings Open Bible Church in Aberdeen.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and supplied his neighbors with eggs from his laying hens.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Linda S. Herrin of the family home in Hoquiam; a son, James David Herrin in Massachusetts; a daughter, Susan Shaner (Al) in Pennsylvania; two step-daughters, Melody Paz of Cosmopolis and Lana Nimmo of Hoquiam; one step-son, Dave McCutchen of Ferndale; two sisters, Lois Hindman of Ferndale and Beatrice Akina of Everett; two brothers, Dwight Herrin in Florida and Dean Herrin of Ferndale; seven grandchildren and other relatives.
There will be no formal funeral service in the Harbor area.
Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
