Ruby Kathrine (Doll) Braaten, a life long resident of Aberdeen, went to meet the Lord on July 7, 2013. Ruby was born on July 10, 1934, in Aberdeen, to Ruby Marie Toler and Lyle Soma. Ruby met Glenn R. Braaten in 1950 and they were married October 5, 1950, at Our Savior’s Luthern Church in Aberdeen. Glenn was the love of her life and together they had six children.
Ruby worked at Hoquiam Plywood and Washington Crab both in Hoquiam. Ruby managed the Kern’s Motel with her husband, Glenn until they retired in 1990.
Ruby loved to travel with her husband, Glenn. Ruby enjoyed playing cards, and attending her children and grandchildren’s sports, music and dance events. Ruby loved to keep a scrapbook of all her grandchildren’s accomplishments. She was proud of being a grandma and family was very important to her.
She attended and was a member of Harbor City Church in Aberdeen.
Ruby is survived by her husband, Glenn of Aberdeen; her children, Nancy (Gary) Barnett, Glenna (Mike) Rand, Raymond Braaten, Brian (Jean) Braaten, Denise Ketzenberg, and Brenda (Les) Blue all of Aberdeen; grandchildren, Michael Barnett, Tiffany (Brian) Burkett, Brooke (Anthony) Bowman, Bradley (Monica) Braaten, Jason (Frank) Hopkins, Tyson (Jaymee) Braaten, Trevor (Kourtney) Braaten, Kyle Goings, Brandon Horn, Whitney Horn, Sally (Eric) Byrd, Lisa Rand, and Stephanie (Jason) Ross; also 16 great-grandchildren; her sister, Louise Bakotich of Aberdeen, and brother Lawrence Doll of Auburn. Ruby is preceded by her parents; her twin brother, Raymond Doll and brother, Charles Doll.
There will be a celebration of life for Ruby at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Harbor City Church, 1700 Cherry Street in Aberdeen.
