Sherman “Keith” Green, 84 years of age and a longtime Hoquiam resident, died on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at his Hoquiam home. He was born on April 6, 1929, in Portland, Oregon to Sherman Warren and Gertrude (Goley) Green.
He was raised and attended school in Vancouver, Washington where he also graduated from high school.
In June of 1955, he married Glenna Rae Lenhardt. In 1956, they moved to Hoquiam where he built the present family home.
Keith worked for Barton & Reynvaan Logging for a few years. He then started his own logging company and worked for Interstate Asphalt. Keith became a longshoreman and joined their ILWU Union Local 24 in 1968. He retired after 26 years in 1994.
He enjoyed the NASCAR races, camping with his family, hunting with his boys, fishing and traveling with his wife. After he retired the couple enjoyed taking their motor home to various parts of the West Coast area, including seeing the attractions of Las Vegas.
Keith is survived by his wife of 56 years, Glenna, at the family home; his children and their spouses, Vickie Wolfe, Denise and Bill Jensen, Karen and Steve Bell, Rick Green, Robin and Mark Green-Burlingame, Scott and Lynn Green as well as Steve Green. He also has 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and other relatives. Keith was preceded in death by a brother, Stan; a sister, Betty; and a daughter, Linda. A special thanks goes to his caregiver, Gail Melson.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 10:00 a.m. until 12 Noon on Wednesday at the Coleman Mortuary.
A graveside service with vault interment will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at the Sunset Memorial Park in Hoquiam with Rev. Kent Gravley officiating.
