Shirley Maxine Bowman, a resident of Central Park, passed away at her home on Thursday, August 30, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was 85. Shirley was born in Aberdeen on August 18, 1927, to John and Nora (Davis) Hill. Shirley was raised in Grayland and attended Ocosta Schools. Shirley’s life was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They knew her as the most loving and giving grandma in the world.
She married the love of her life, James A. Bowman, on August 10, 1946. The had 66 wonderful years together.
Shirley was a homemaker who had many hobbies, including bowling, crafts, crochet, gardening, knitting. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband, James; a son, Eugene (Cathy) Bowman of Montesano; two daughters, Sandra Hokanson and Cheryl (Jim) Nickel, both of Central Park; and brothers, John C. (Jane) Hill Jr. of Central Park and Donald (Virginia) Hill of Woodburn, Oregon; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A great-granddaughter is due in December. Shirley is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Shirley will be from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at Harrison Family Mortuary located at 311 W. Market St. in Aberdeen. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5th in the chapel at Harrsion Family Mortuary. A graveside service will follow at Fern Hill Cemetery.
